Banning bottled water

is it really necessary to ban bottled water? Is this going to far? Is bottled water really that much better for you? Our government is trying to decide for us whether bottled water is really better for you than tap water and if the bottled water industry should be more tightly regulated. What do you think?

There may be a reason to have bottled water available, but not if it's just filtered tapwater. Even Perrier has to be re-carbonated after it's harvested so it's actually pretty dumb. Bagged water for emergencies might be okay, but don't let people buy by the case unless there is an emergency.

To me it makes no sense to ship water from a source half way round the world, only to throw the bottle it was shipped in away after one use. We should be taxing bottled water the same way we are introducing a tax on plastic bags. That will be a start in changing consumers minds about this rediculous waste. In western markets there is nothing wrong with the water available and the minerals in some bottles water are so tiny in amounts they make bugger all difference to our health. You want minerals try eating some fresh fruit and veg!We should be using water filters more at home and introducing more water fountains in public.
